Establishment of the Appraisal Council for the Adjustment of the Forestry Planning for the 2021–2030 Period with a Vision to 2050

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has just signed Decision No. 1540/QĐ-TTg dated August 12, 2026, establishing the Appraisal Council for the adjustment of the forestry planning for the 2021–2030 period with a vision to 2050.

Under the Decision, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung serves as the Chairperson of the Appraisal Council for the adjustment of the forestry planning for the 2021–2030 period with a vision to 2050 (the Council).

The Vice Chairperson of the Council is the Minister of Agriculture and Environment. Council members include representatives from the leadership of relevant ministries and agencies (Government Office, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Construction, Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs) and leaders of the People's Committees of certain provinces and cities (Phu Tho, Nghe An, Gia Lai, Da Nang, An Giang); ...Mr. Ngo Sy Hoai, Secretary General of the Vietnam Timber and Forest Product Association; and expert reviewers (Mr. Trieu Van Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Forestry Science and Technology Association; Mr. Phi Hong Hai, Director of the Vietnamese Academy of Forest Sciences; Mr. Nguyen Ba Ngai, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Forest Owners Association; and Mr. Nghiem Van Tuan, Deputy Director of the National Remote Sensing Center).

Council Duties. The Council is tasked with assisting the Prime Minister in organizing the appraisal of the adjusted Forestry Planning for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision to 2050, in accordance with legal regulations on planning.

The standing body of the Council is the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The responsibilities and powers of the Council’s standing body are exercised in accordance with Article 38 of the Government's Decree No. 70/2026/ND-CP dated March 9, 2026. The Council operates on a concurrent-duty basis; it shall cease operations and automatically dissolve once the adjusted Forestry Planning for the 2021–2030 period (with a vision to 2050) is approved by the Prime Minister.
