On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the renaming of Saigon - Gia Dinh City to Ho Chi Minh City (July 2, 1976 – July 2, 2026), Vingroup Corporation and its ecosystem partners simultaneously commenced construction on three key transportation infrastructure projects: the sea-crossing road connecting Can Gio and Vung Tau, the interchange connecting the Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressway with the Rung Sac road, and the interchange connecting the Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressway with National Highway 50. These projects are of significant importance in completing the transportation infrastructure system, strengthening inter-regional connectivity, creating momentum for socio-economic development, and expanding development space for Ho Chi Minh City and the Southeast region.
Above all, the Can Gio – Vung Tau sea-crossing road project stands out, marking the first direct connection between Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau via a sea-crossing route. The project, approximately 14.06 km long, is planned with 6 lanes and a design speed of 80 km/h, with a total estimated investment of over 93,000 billion VND. The project includes over 8 km of sea-crossing bridges and 3.85 km of sea-crossing tunnels, creating the first and largest-scale sea-crossing road and tunnel system in Vietnam. Upon completion, the route will shorten travel time between Can Gio and Vung Tau to approximately 10 minutes, contributing to the development of the marine economy, tourism, logistics, and strengthening regional connectivity. The project is also expected to become a new infrastructure symbol of Ho Chi Minh City, while simultaneously creating momentum for the development of the Can Gio coastal urban area.
In addition, the two interchanges connecting the Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressway with the Rung Sac road and National Highway 50 will contribute to completing the transportation network along the expressway corridor, improving traffic capacity, and reducing travel time to Can Gio and other southern areas of the city. The projects are being implemented with the participation of SGC Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company – a member of the Vingroup ecosystem – and a consortium of EPC general contractors. The company is committed to mobilizing resources, technology, and engineering teams to ensure quality, safety, and construction progress. The simultaneous implementation of these three strategic infrastructure projects will not only contribute to improving transportation connectivity but also expand economic development space, attract investment, and create a foundation for sustainable growth in Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern region in the coming years.
