On the morning of December 17, 2025, Phú Thọ Province organized a scientific workshop to gather contributions from experts, scientists, central and local leaders for the document adjusting the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. This event marks an important step in perfecting the long-term development orientation for the new province, officially formed through the merger of the three former provinces of Phú Thọ, Vĩnh Phúc, and Hòa Bình effective from July 1, 2025.
The workshop was chaired by Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trần Duy Đông, with the active participation of provincial leaders, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Bùi Minh Châu, along with leading experts such as Associate Professor Dr. Trần Đình Thiên, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Thị Phương Châm – Director of the Institute of Cultural Research, representatives from central ministries and agencies, enterprises, and local departments and branches.
In his opening speech, Chairman Trần Duy Đông emphasized that the planning adjustment was implemented promptly based on the transitional provisions of the Planning Law and the Government's Resolution, aiming to inherit suitable contents from the three former provincial plannings while adding new elements appropriate to the expanded development space. The planning is built with an integrated strategic mindset, multi-dimensional connectivity, maximizing the combined potential and advantages of the three regions, minimizing internal competition, while closely aligning with national planning orientations, regional planning, and breakthrough tasks outlined in the Documents of the First Provincial Party Congress.
At the workshop, delegates provided many profound and responsible opinions. Experts focused on clarifying the distinct advantages of the three former localities to propose connectivity solutions that create new competitive strengths for Phú Thọ Province, particularly in investment, human resources, culture, and people. Associate Professor Dr. Trần Đình Thiên highlighted the special geographical position of Phú Thọ, encircling the capital Hanoi, which poses significant competitive challenges but also offers valuable opportunities for the province to leverage spillover effects for high-quality service development. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Thị Phương Châm proposed stronger integration of human factors – the endogenous resource – into the planning, harmoniously combining economy, culture, and society. Comrade Bùi Minh Châu suggested ensuring comprehensiveness, generality, and long-term vision to facilitate detailed adjustments and future implementation.
In concluding the workshop, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trần Duy Đông expressed full appreciation for the heartfelt contributions and directed the consulting unit to seriously review and perfect the document in a synchronized, unified manner with clear focus points. In particular, it is necessary to further clarify strategic development pillars, development spaces, economic corridors, driving axes, and growth poles with feasible scenarios for each phase. With this foundation, Phú Thọ Province expects to soon complete the document for submission to competent authorities for approval, creating strong momentum for rapid, harmonious, and sustainable development in the new phase.
