Khanh Hoa Province has finalized its Free Trade Zone (FTZ) proposal, targeting three key areas: Van Phong Economic Zone linked toVan Phong Port, the Southern Coastal Economic Zone tied to Ca Na Port, and a development zone connected to Cam Ranh International Airport. The province is currently reviewing its planning, enhancing infrastructure, and streamlining administrative procedures to prepare for the 2025-2030 pilot phase.
Experts suggest that Khanh Hoa should focus its FTZ development on logistics, leveraging Van Phong Port’s potential for international transshipment, alongside supporting industries, clean energy, and maritime services. This model could position Khanh Hoa as a global trade gateway, complementing the Central Vietnam FTZ corridor alongside Đa Nang.
Khanh Hoa's determined entry into the FTZ race not only showcases its strategic vision in leveraging geographical, infrastructural, and maritime economic advantages but also reflects its ambition to innovate mechanisms and deeply integrate into global value chains. If successfully implemented, the free trade zones in Khanh Hoa will not only attract significant investment flows but also serve as a vital catalyst, driving development across the entire Central Vietnam region.
